How To Make a Great Twitter Background
Be honest…does your Twitter background leave clients less than impressed? It’s not unusual. Even some social media consultants are woefully out of touch when it comes to making their Twitter profile pages appealing. Today’s tutorial will teach you how to transform your Twitter background from tame to tantalizing in a few simple steps.
1. Prepare. Before getting into the technology, take a few minutes to prepare. Write down your company name, get a copy of your logo, jot down all the relevant urls or links you want to include and other pertinent information or contacts.
2. Set the paramaters. Using your favorite design software, open a new dialog box and designate a name…something simple like “new twitter background” should suffice…and sizes. Twitter backgrounds should be 2048 x 1600 pixels (width x height).. Save it to a location you can find (perhaps your desktop).
3. Set-up the Space. Now it’s time to actually create the look and feel; because Twitter uses a feed for every page, it’s important the text and images are not blocked. Make a marker at the 300 pixel horizontal line marker to remind yourself to work around this area.
4. Pick the Perfect Color. If you have a company logo or other colors, it’s often best to use the RGB values rather than guessing but when in doubt, stick to a solid color. They are always easy to see and work with.
5. Type in the Text. Add text and images including name, contact information, URL’s or logo. Remember to keep it simple for easy viewing.
6. Save! Twitter allows JPEG, PNG or GIF uploads of up to 800k in size. If the image quality is too high, simply save downward rather than shrinking the size.
7. Upload! Upload your new background to Twitter. It’s that simple and straightforward to create your very own customized Twitter background. Customize for the holidays, change to compliment a new campaign or just get creative and have fun. It’s a quick way to remain memorable and keep clients guessing at what you will do next!
