How To Round-Up – Quick Fixes for the New Facebook

Call it a cheat-sheet or template to get up and running fast on the new Facebook page but here is a list of “must do’s” for every small business owner.

How to…Create Your New Facebook Cover – aka the Giant Banner

By now, many of you are probably exploring the new Facebook timeline. One of the very first things you will certainly notice is the giant banner image spread across the top of the screen; but what happens if you don’t like the photo automatically populating the page? Don’t worry! It’s actually a simple fix.

Just open up your photo album and search for a picture you like or upload a new photo. Once you have a picture picked out, select for use on the “cover”.

How to… Change the Default Content Categories

Facebook has set four default channels; friends, photo’s, maps and likes. To modify or replace these four, simply click the drop-down menu to select other categories including subscribers, subscriptions, notes, apps or preferred media partners.

How to… Activate the Activity Log

One of the new Facebook features is an activity log. Above the featured content you will see a “view activity” link with a list of items requiring approval. It is suggested that you take the time to review this content prior to publishing to your profile!

A private log of all your former actions will appear along with an option to publish, delete or hide.

How to…Preview Your New Profile

Don’t publish before taking the time to preview your new profile page! See for yourself how it will look to friends and casual users. Go to the Info panel and search for the preview button from the privacy perspective desired (ie, a specific friend, general viewer etc).
