The Value of the Un-Viral Video
The value of a video going viral is undisputed; it’s a fantastic way to capture the attention of new viewers, spread the message about your business or service and gain a new audience. However, social media consultants often resort to another use of video…the un-viral video for exclusive viewers. Why? Well there are actually several great reasons to tap into this often overlooked video marketing strategy. Keep reading to determine if the un-viral video is the solution you have been searching for when working with exclusive client contacts, business associates and others.
1. Individualized Messages! Really want to impress that special prospect? Send an individualized video message. Of course, this type of video is not intended for the general public so there is no reason to share; instead, record a quick video to relate specific information, congratulations, thank you or other greetings to a specific recipient or organization.
2. Personalized Products. This same technique can also be used as a training tool for information products/services – simply create a “generic” version of FAQ’s, insights or other valuable information then add a quick personal/individual greeting to the front and/or ending. Properly placed, the entire segment will feel highly personalized yet require very little time.
3. Exclusive Offers. Un-viral video’s are perfect for subscribers that desire access to exclusive offers such as seminars, POD casts or other information. Once again, by limiting the number of participants, it is possible to provide tiers of service and/or information as well as reward loyal clients or contacts. Get creative with this one! For example, use QR codes to promote to a targeted audience or email a link to a few select groups to send a special discount for the holidays.
4. Campaign Testing. One of the most valuable reasons to use un-viral video’s is to test out a campaign prior to full launch.
Think of it as a great way to “beta test” a message prior to the full launch. Randomly select a similar number of viewers for each video and then compare results; which elicited the largest response? Which received more attention? Select the top rated video to go viral.
